Week 14: Doing Research on Companies

When going into a job interview it is important to already go into the interview with information regarding the company that you are interviewing for. Start by looking at the company's website and try to learn some simple things regarding the company from there. What does the company do, what are their missions and values, do they have any recent achievements that they have shared, etc. This is so when the interviewer eventually asks you the reason that you want to work there you have some interesting and knowledgable things to say about the company's culture and the company as a whole. 

Another important aspect in today's world is to look at the company's social media sites. That is where they will share lots of things when it comes to the culture of the company, active things the company is working on, and team events. This allows you to be more confident when it comes to knowing if this is the place for you and when doing the interview it will make you much more comfortable. If you are able to do this it gives you an edge in the interview. It is not easy to do an interview. It can be stressful, daunting, and scary. However, if you go in with knowledge about the company and research it makes it ten times easier. Make it easier for yourself because that is how you will have the confidence to get the job done.

 Nolan Fasel  There is nothing more important when going through the job hunting process than having confidence. It can be an adventure when looking for a job, it can be stressful when looking for a job, and it can destroy you self-esteem at times. That is why having self confidence throughout the entire process is paramount. Believe in your abilities and the things that you bring to the table from day one. Don't get discouraged when applying for jobs and not hearing anything back for days at a time. There is a process that these companies have to run through as well. When going into an interview let the confidence show. That is showing the interviewer that you know what you are doing and that will make the interview go much smoother.  In order to get jobs and to be successful in them confidence has to be there.
