10 Skills Every Social Media Manager Must Have | Sprout Social

Building Skills

When it comes to today's world there are so many different types of social media and so many different ways to present certain topics on social media. Presenting these topics is a form of social media marketing. With the digital world continuously evolving daily, building and dialing in social media skills that help with marketing is an essential act when it comes to business. Social media marketing is allowing people to do freelance work like owning a marketing agency or working for a company and running their social media for them. An example of a great marketing agency is VaynerMedia created by Gary Vaynerchuk. He started the company to run social media platforms for big companies when social media first started coming to life in the mid 2000's. He built generational wealth because of the tools and skills that he was able to learn in social media marketing. Being able to build skills in social media marketing whether it is knowing the target audience, engagement, or SEO (search engine optimization) can set you up for life when it comes to social media marketing.

Engagement/Target Audience

A very important aspect of social media marketing is engagement or how many people see the things that you are posting. Ways of doing this are done through articles, promotions, links, etc. All of these things allow people to see what you are marketing and it increases the likelihood of sales or interactions for the company. In order to get high engagement is to understand the demographic of the customers that you are trying to reach. For example, knowing their preferences, online behavior, likes and dislikes can all jump start the engagements for that company or product line. Being able to understand the customer is how many companies are able to be so successful through their social media marketing. Build connections with the audience or the customers, get them engaged in the content. It is not just about selling a product or marketing that item or business. It is about connecting with the customer so they feel the need or want to get that product or work with that particular company.

Being able to have a handful of skills when it comes to social media marketing is how the best companies continuously make money and stay on top of the changes in this digital world that we live in. Being able to adapt and stay on top of the new trends is how connections are made with people in the online world. Embracing the change is an opportunity that many do not seem to grasp. Being able to change with the industry allows a chance to show your brand's personality and ability to adapt in an ever changing landscape. Be a Swiss-army knife, learn as much as possible in everything you can.

There is a certain level of preparedness that need to be done so that you are ready when it comes time to do the interview. Even though you may go through all of this preparation and feel like you are 100% ready to go for the interview there are still plenty of mistakes that are made along the way. One main mistake is when looking for a job only interviewing for big companies such as Fortune 500 companies and not having backup plans in case those interviews don't go well. Many job hunters get fixed on one specific job and if they don't get it they are all back to square one trying to find another job that perfectly fits them. In today's world it can be tough to find jobs that perfectly fit and you must find backups sometimes in order to be ready for something to fall through.  Another mistake that is commonly made is only going based off of your resume for every aspect...

Week 15: Having Confidence when Job Searching

Nolan Fasel  There is nothing more important when going through the job hunting process than having confidence. It can be an adventure when looking for a job, it can be stressful when looking for a job, and it can destroy you self-esteem at times. That is why having self confidence throughout the entire process is paramount. Believe in your abilities and the things that you bring to the table from day one. Don't get discouraged when applying for jobs and not hearing anything back for days at a time. There is a process that these companies have to run through as well. When going into an interview let the confidence show. That is showing the interviewer that you know what you are doing and that will make the interview go much smoother.  In order to get jobs and to be successful in them confidence has to be there. It's not being boastful about yourself or your abilities, but it is important to be confident. Without it, it is just like going through the motions day to day. B...
